Privacy Policy
Effective date: February 1, 2024 · Last updated: May 7, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes what data Daniel Shapiro Law ("we," "us," or "our") collects when you use shapirolaw.co.il (the "Site"), and how we process, store, and protect that data. By using the Site or submitting a consultation request, you agree to the terms of this Policy.
1. What we collect
We collect only the information needed to respond to your inquiry and handle any resulting case:
- your name and contact information (phone, messaging app) provided in the consultation form;
- a brief description of your situation, which you voluntarily share in the form or follow-up correspondence;
- technical session data: IP address, device and browser type, referral source, and cookies — for analytics and site security.
2. How we use your data
- to contact you and conduct the initial free consultation;
- to evaluate the case and prepare an engagement proposal;
- to comply with Israeli legal requirements (including Israel Bar Association advertising rules) and to retain records for statutory periods;
- to maintain Site security and prevent abuse.
3. Legal basis for processing
We process your data based on your consent (by submitting the form), our legitimate interest (responding to a prospective client inquiry), and obligations imposed on attorneys by Israel Bar Association rules and US federal law.
4. Who we share data with
We do not sell or share your data with third parties for commercial purposes. Disclosure is limited to three situations:
- service providers that operate the Site (hosting, analytics, email notifications) — under data protection agreements;
- in response to lawful requests from a court, government agency, or regulator;
- staff and contractors of the firm who need access to case materials to handle the matter.
5. Attorney-client privilege
Information you share in connection with a consultation is protected by attorney-client privilege under Israeli law and the Israel Bar Association Rules of Professional Conduct. The contents of your communications are not disclosed to third parties without your written consent, except where expressly required by law.
6. Data retention
Inquiries that do not result in an engagement are retained for no more than 12 months. Case files for current and former clients are retained for the periods required by Israel Bar Association rules (generally no less than 7 years after closing the matter, per Israel Bar retention rules).
7. Your rights
You have the right to request:
- a copy of the data we hold about you;
- correction of inaccurate data;
- deletion of your data (subject to attorney record-retention obligations);
- withdrawal of previously given consent;
- information about third parties with whom your data has been shared.
Send your request through the form on the home page — we will respond within 30 days.
8. Cookies
The Site uses strictly necessary cookies to operate the form and session, plus aggregated analytics cookies (which do not identify individual users) to improve the Site. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; some features may not work properly as a result.
9. Security
We use HTTPS encryption, restricted access to submission data, and routine security audits. That said, no internet-based data transmission is fully secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children
The Site is not intended for individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Policy. The current version is always available at this URL; the last-updated date appears at the top of the document.
